Apple& Cherry pie with oat crumble...

Hot from the oven... (ignore my ugly tray please)


my 1st apple crumble slice...





Hye ,

Hope it's not too late for me to wish everyone Gong Xi Fa Chai.. err.. i think i was possessed by CNY spirit last weekend coz out of the blue my cooking mood yang dah lama terpadam tetibe muncul haha.. last sunday ,suddenly i craved for Awana Genting's Apple crumble pie.... since i wasnt feeling well ( demam urat) i decided not to go to Awana but tried to make my own pie... nerves siot buat cucur pun x penah tetibe buat apple crumble lak.. haha .. after googling the recipe i decided to combine Jamie Oliver's topping with Nigella's filling and zuraini's cheese tart base hehe.. hantam je..

Apple Cherry Pie with Oat crumble
( for 6 inch tray- kecik je)


a. Base
10 pieces chocolate flavoured biskut marrie
2 pieces oreo biscuit ( buang krim die)
3 sudu mkn melted butter

- hancurkan, tekan and padatkan kat tray.
refrigerate while u prepare the filling and topping

b. Filling
3 medium size granny smith apples - peeled, cored and thinly sliced
50 gram sugar ( i used brown sugar)
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon/ nutmeg powder
1 spoonfull water
2-3 spoonfull corn starch / flour
50 gram Red cherries


-Put the apples in to a pan with the sugar ,water and cinnamon powder.
add flour/starch to thicken it.
Cook over a low heat for 5 minutes and place in a small oven proof dish.
add red cherries just before u switch it off..
let it cool for a while


c. Topping

35g rolled oats/ instant oat pun bole
35g flour
20g caster sugar
35g margarine or butter
30 gram almond flakes (toasted)

-Place the flour and oats in a bowl and mix well. Cut the margarine or butter in to small cubes and add this to the oats and flour. Mix with your fingertips until it resembles an even crumb texture. Add the sugar and mix through.Add almond flakes


Methods:

1.Preheat the oven to 190°C
2.Pour the filling ontop of the base.
3.Cover the fruit with the crumble mixture.
4.Bake for approximately 25- 30 minutes until the crumble is golden and the apple hot.
5. serve with vanilla sauce or vanilla ice-cream


note the seductive red cherries in the pie.. lovely!
p/s: i did use all the crumble coz i used small tray, i perhaps it is meant for 9 inch tray. i did not serve it with ice cream or vanilla sauce , i just sprinkle brown sugar to make it taste more interesting :)
